Mixtur is pleased to announce the introduction of Aetherlink Hosting Services. We will be offering virtual hosting services to our existing client base as well as to the general public. The reason for this is simple: quality.

We strive to provide our customers with quality products and services. And we have found that the only way to maintain a high level of quality is to maintain a high level of control.

Our Virtual Hosting solutions are implemented on our very own server farm. Unlike other hosting providers, we do not resell and rebrand yet another upstream provider's facilities. While there are many cost advantages to that kind of a setup, it is often a losing scenario for the customer because it is hard to know how many times the facilities have been resold: that is, a reseller can resell to another reseller who can resell to yet another reseller and so on... While middle men aren't in themselves a big problem, you need to be concerned about the fact that the only way anyone can offer low-priced hosting is to sell a greater capacity than is available and hope that the majority of users don't use anywhere near their allocated capacity; consequently, as the reseller chain grows in length the number of potential users on one shared server grows exponentially. More users generally means less performance available to YOU.

Through Aetherlink we operate our own facilities. This setup ultimately does cost us more but it also allows us to maintain an ultimate level of control over our hosting products. We elect to earn a lower profit so that our customers can gain a better experience. Are we nuts? No! Better hosting results in less technical problems. Fewer problems results in lowered support costs and happier customers. It's the classic win-win situation.

What is Virtual Hosting?

In general, there are three common ways to host content on the Internet:

  • Personal Web space provided by a consumer Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Shared or Virtual Hosting offered by a hosting provider.
  • Dedicated equipment offered by a hosting provider. This can be managed or unmanaged hosting.

The above three options are presented in the order of cost and capability. It is important to note that only the second and third options allow a customer to map a hostname (such as www.mydomain.com) to included Web space. Of the last two options, Virtual Hosting is the most cost-effective for the vast majority of Webmasters, businesses and organizations.

Virtual Hosting provides a way for the hosting provider to share resources on one server among several customers. This setup allows the hosting provider to drastically reduce costs and pass the savings along to the customer. The service is commonly labelled as virtual because a customer is allocated their very own space on the server, furthermore, they cannot see or access anyone else's space. The customer perceives no difference between a virtual server and a much more expensive dedicated server as long as the hosting provider properly manages the hosting environment (including cpu, storage, and bandwidth usage).

Aetherlink offers Virtual Hosting because it is cost-effective and because a well-managed server can perform equally as well as a dedicated server at a fraction of the cost to the customer.

When can I buy this?

It all sounds well and good but you probably want to know when you will be able to buy this service, how much will it cost, and what does that include?! The short answer is very soon. The service is being finalized and should be available sometime in the first quarter of 2007. In the meantime, you can contact us through our Services Inquiry form to find out more.
